BUSH UNION MEETING. The management committee 'of the Bush Sub-union held a meeting on Tuesday night. Present: Messrs. W. A. Bond, V. Brown, W. Henderson, W. Aithen, P. Monaghan, M. Eeichenbach, A. Humphrey, K. J. Smith, J. Waters anil G. L, Chatwin (secretary). Putara School asked for a donation of a football. —Agreed to and left in the hands of Mr. Henderson for delivery. The Horowhenua Rugby Union wrote accepting July I for tho date of the Bebbington Shield match and asked for arrangements to be made for their lunch on that date.—Agreed to. The Bush Hockey Association asked for Eugby matches to be cancelled on Wednesday, July S, in view of the visit of tho Fijian ladies’ hockey team. —It was agreed, to comply with the rccpicst of the Hockey Association. Dannevirko Sub-Union reminded the union that a.challenge had been lodged for- tho Bebbington Shield, and as vet they had not received any word of its acceptance. ; The secretary, reported that he had flot. jjgQejycd t.he a chali.onge from the Dannevirko Union, but the late, secretary had informed him that such had been received and inadvertently over-; looked. Members agreed that Dannevirko weno entitled to the first match since their challenge had been already put J in, but as it had not been received officially and arrangements were already finalised, the Horowhenua gamo would have to come first. j It was decided to offer Dannevirko July 15 for the Bebbington Shield at Pahiatua, and after further discussion it was agreed to play the Wairarapa match at Eketahuna on July 122. It was mentioned that Wairarapa wished to come to Pahiatua for tho return game, but members pointed out that Eketahuna was much nearer Masterton than Pahiatua, and' Dannevirke patrons would be better suited by the shield match being played at Pahiatua.

It was also pointed out that accommodation was a difficult matter at Eketahuna, and a member mentioned that Wairarapa had taken the first match to a dry area and said there could be no harm in bringing them to Eketahuna. (Laughter.) The secretary’s in instituting schemes for raising funds to defray tho medical expenses of D. O 'Donnell (who recently broke his leg in a third grade match) was approved. The secretary reported that the caretaker had suggested having the grandstand cleaned up, and it was resolved to ask tho A. and P. Association to have same attended to in view of the fact that they liaff tho use of the ground for next to nothing. It was reported that the gate at tho double match on Saturday week was £5, and this was chiefly due to the fact that there was a curtain-raiser between Ngaturi and Hukanui juniors. It was explained that the gatekeeper’s car had broken down prior to this match, and though Telief gatekeepers could not take up duties at once, the

onlookers who had not been asked for money, had confo forward when tho hat was taken round. Seven-aside. It was reported that tho Carnival Park ground was unsuitable for play in the seven-aside on Juno 23, and that the recreation committeo of tho Borough Council would institute certain filling work on the grounds which would bo available at the usual charge of 10 per cent. on the takings. The secretary was deputed to arrange the draw for tho junior and senior seven-aside with Mr. S. K. Siddells and Mr. W. Henderson undertook to work tho third grade and midget games. The third grade and junior matches will start at 9.30 a.m. and the seniors will be worked in as early as possible. It was decided to secure the cups and exhilut same in the window of the secretary’s shop. The union resolved to procure appropriate football mementoes to be given in lieu of miniature cups.
