Women’s Institute
lIALCOMBE
The June meeting was presided over by Mrs W. Davies. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs Reid, Mrs James and Miss Scigcl. It was decided not to enter for the competition at the Manawatu A. and P. show and not to send a delegate to the annual conference at Dunedin. A singing circle with Mrs Curtis as leader is to be formed.' The roll call “What would I do for the Women’s Institute if I won £2000?” caused much amusement. The competitions for eggless fruit cake and prettiest coarse apron, were both won by Mrs W. Stewart who was heartily applauded. An interesting demonstra-
tion on tho way to use the attachments of a Singer sewing machine was given by a “Singer” expert. The competition for July will be home-made bread, pikelets, and child's singlet made on No. 12 needles with 2 ply wool. A card evening for members and their friends will be held at the Jubilee Hall on Friday, June 19. Afternoon tea was served by tho hostesses, Mrs C. Managb, Mrs Miles and Miss T. Miles.
