Mr. Amau slated: “ \Yc are in communication With AJr. Aturai, Australian Consul-General, in regard to Sir Harry Oullett’s latest oiler to apply intermediate tariifs to .Japanese goods which we regard as inadequate. Our attitude has already been clearly defined. Owing to Australia’s drastic measures we are obliged to protect our trade by invoking the Jaw but if the Australians return to the status quo ante and are ready to talk on the same footing wo are ready to talk to them.”
Wool Markets Weaker

SYDNEY, Juno 17.
At the wool sales (3547 bales were offered and 4159 sold, also 2423 privately. The market was slightly weaker and competition irregular. All wellgrown wools were taken by the Continent and Yorkshire.
