From Our Own Correspondent On Saturday afternoon the ladies of the Oroua Downs Golf Club played a further stroke competition. The results were as follows: Miss M. Scott 55 nett,* Miss L. Fromm 51) nett, Mrs. It. Shailer 59 nett, Mrs. E. Conlan 61 nett, Mrs. C. Pedersen 61 nett, Mrs. A. G. Nichols 68 nett, Mrs. A. Hobbs 61) nett, Mrs. J. Connell 78 nett. Over, the week-end a team from the Herrington Golf Club played a visit to the local club when an inter-club match was played. At the conclusion of play Mr. L. O. Bryant, on behalf of the Herrington Club, thanked the local club for the pleasant day and the afternoon tea served by a willing band of ladies. The results of play were as follows, Herrington players being mentioned first: — Fourball: E. C. Bryant and J. D. Purcell lost to It. A. Nichols and M. Moffat, J. H. Purcell and L. Say well beat B. Pedersen and J. Half S. Mattar and T. Crottylost to J. Vcale and A. T. Nichols, K. Maidens and C. Pedersen lost to J. Connell and E. Conlan, E, Pederson and M. Mills lost to R. Shailer and J. A. Conlan. Herrington 2 games, Oroua Downs 3. Singles: L. C. Bryant lost to U. A. Nichols, J. D. Purcell lost to M. Moffat. J. H. Purcell halved with B. Pedersen, E. Saywell beat .1. Hall, S. Mattar halved with J. Veale, T. Crotty halved with A. T. Nichols, K. Maidins lost to J. Connell, C. Pedersen lost to E. Conlan. It. Shailer beat E. redersen, J. A. Conlan beat M. Mills. Herrington 8 games, Oroua Downs ■!, 3 games halved. Herrington 5 games, Oroua Downs 7, 3 games halved. The draw for next week’s ladies’ competition is as follows: .Miss M. Scott v. Jack Connel. On Saturday the local Rugby team visited ltangiotu where they defeated the home team by 15 points to S after leading 10 —nil at half-tjme. On the home grounds the local juniors suffered a defeat at the hands of the Ohakea juniors. Though the score stood at 6 all at halftime, Ohakea had the better of the things in the second spell eventually winning by 17 points to six. Mr. J. Hobbs, of "Wellington is spending a few weeks' holidays with his sister, .Mrs. E. Conlan, of Oroua Downs. Miss C. Gates returned home over the week-end after spending a holiday with relatives in (he. South Island.
