Local Body By-elections
RESULTS OF YESTERDAY’S POLLS. Polls were conducted yesterday in the Taonui riding of the Kairanga Coun'ty Council and Manawatu Drainage Board area to elect a councillor and fruslVc to fill the scats left vacant by the deatli of Mr. A. W. Hamlin. The election in the Taonui riding resulted in tho return of Mr. N. P. Nielsen, of Tiakitahuna, who polled 20-1 votes. Mr. N. Campbell, the other nominee, secured 120 votes. Mr. H. K. Groen (Kairanga) was returned with 192 votes for the Manawatu Drainage Board. Of the other two nominees, Mr. N. P. Nielsen secured 17-4 votes and Mr. H. Hands 12 votes.
