Mr. G. J. Wilde represented the Opiki branch of the Farmers' Union at the annual meeting of the Manawatu Provincial Executive, held'in Palmerston Isorth on June 6. . Mrs. L. Clifford has returned from a holiday visit to the Wairarapa, General. Gardens in the district are looking very ivitiU'v just now. Deciduous trees and shrubs have lost their leaves and there are few bright patches in tho flower borders. Only the vivid marigolds give glowing touches of colour to the sombre background of trees. Farmers appreciate the warmer weather conditions and showers of rain as the frosts have been effectively checking the growth of paddocks sown down in grass in the lato autumn. , Tho high macrocarpa hedge facing the road frontage on ‘the school grounds, was recently trimmed and now presents a neat appearance.
