From Our Own Correspondent. General and Personal. Mr. Lawrence Harrowfield is away iu New Plymouth on holiday. Mrs. P. Eagle and Brian aro visiting friend’s in Wellington. On Wednesday afternoon the W.I. will hold their Juno meeting, a week earlier on account of tho show.

A large number of Whakarongo members attended the group meeting in Palmerston North last Thursday. One evening this week eight members of tho ping pong club will travel to Ashliurst, whore they will meet a team from that club in a friendly match. The following will represent .the club: Misses O. and E. Vautier, Messrs. P. Cater, W. Vautier, K. Woodd, W. Baimbridge, E. Hornibrook and F. Greene; emergency, P. Koehler. Tho drama club committee met recently when final details In connection with their social and dance wore finalised. It was decided to run the function on the usual W.I. evening lines, and a jolly evening is anticipated. Two plays, both containing men and women, have been produced by Miss Vautier for the occasion. 1 . - ■ . The schuol children having hud their examinations, aro now busy rehearsing dances for .their fancy dress bail on tho 26th. ‘The rail car passing through the district on .Sunday created a good deal of interest, and speculation was rife as to the speed at which it was travelling. The farmers are now taking the milk to the factory every third day. It was some considerable time since rain fell in Whakarongo and farmers were finding themselves short of water. Yesterday’s slioWers came at an opportune moment. -

Mrs. Lancaster has returned home from a stay with her mother, Mrs. Munns, in Pahiatua, but will bo returning again shortly for a few days. Frosts of late htivo been so severe that camelias that were making a brave show aro looking brown and dejected.
