From Our Own Correspondent. Golf Club. On Saturday Shannon ladies played Levin on the local links, the home team being the winners. Results wero as follows, Shannon ladles being mentioned first: Mrs. Moynihan lost to Mrs. Roydhouse, Miss Picard won from -Mrs. Denton, Miss Grey won from Miss Herrick, Miss Bayly won from Mrs. Hosie, Mrs. Cronquest halved with Mrs. Lynch. Mrs. McDonald lost to Miss Hosie, Mrs. Graham won from Miss Clarke, MBs Easton won from Miss Davies, Mrs. Murrow won from Mrs. Black.

On Saturday next a L.G.IT. medal match will be played, the following being the draw: Miss Picard and Miss Grey, Mrs. Cronque-st and Miss Easton, Mrs. Graham and Mrs. Murrow. Miss Lindsay and Mrs. Bovis, Mrs. Moynihan and Mrs. McDonald,. Mrs. Morgan and Miss Bayly. Juniors will play for the Morgan Brooch and partners will be arranged at tho club house at 1 p.m.

Borough Council. At the fortnightly meeting of tho Shannon Borough Council there were present the Mayor (Mr. E. Butt). Crs. Hyde, Clayton, Thwaites, Curran snr., Curran jnr. and J. Roach. It was decided to call tenders for kerbing and putting down in concrete a path in Plimmer terrace; also a concrete channel and kerb at tho south end of the same- street. The road committee was instructed to bring down a report and estimate for paving the footpath on the west side of Vogel street between Stout and Grey streets. An application to erect a public address system was made by A. and E. Hyde and granted. It was decided to apply to the Horoxvher.ua County Council for a grant towards re-erecting tho mortuary chapel in the cemetery. The Mayor gave notice of motion: "That tho council meetings be held monthly, instead of bi-weekly, during the winter months.” Personal. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Graham, Island Bay, have been on a short visit to theirson and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Graham, Ballance street. Miss Hennessey, of Wellington, is visiting Shannon and is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Hennessey, East road. Miss Maisie Brown, who has been teaching at tho Picton School for some years, has been appointed to the Wellington South School.
