THE DIFFICULT NORTH COL OF EVEREST.—Heavy snow has interrupted the climbers who were advancing from Camp -1 in the latest attempt to climb Mt. Everest. The north col, shown in the photograph with a parly of porters of a previous expedition on their way to Camp 5, has been rendered impassable by heavy snow, according to a message from the leader, Mr. Hugh Rutledge (inset). One party is already safely camped on 1 * the col with plenty of food.
