MBS. PATERSON HONOURED. Oa Wednesday afternoon last, the Presbyterian Ladies’ Social Guild held their usual monthly meeting, when Mrs K. L. Warren presided over a very good attendance of members. The first half of the afternoon was devoted mainly to business matters and the remainder of the afternoon toot the form of a social in honour of Mrs M. Paterson,'who is leaving this month on a trip to America as delegate to the conference of Women’s Institutes. Mrs Warren aslced Mrs Paterson to accept a small presentation in the form of 'a bodk "from'the P.W.M.XJ. and Ladies’ Guild. Mrs Paterson, she said, had. been .a .most loyal member for very many years, and was held in very great esteem by all. The guest was . then accorded musical honours (played by Mrs Murch), the members joining in. Mrs Paterson said in reply that she had been associated with tho P.W.M.U. and Guild as long as she had been in Pahiatua. Although she was often away at other meetings she said she always gave her spiritual support. Mrs Paterson then thanked the members for their gift. Mrs Paterson told the meeting that she was to sail on April 28th .for Vancouver, en route for Washington, where the Associated Countrywomen of the World would hold their conference. Mrs Paterson is the delegate for New Zealand, which is one of 55 countries to bo represented. A reception is to be held at White House, at which each delegate is to reau a report. Excursions are then to Oo arranged, one of the most important to a place called Stoneycrcok, near ’.Toronto, where the very first Women’s Institute was formed. Mrs Paterson said sho would enjoy visiting all the interesting places and would have lots to tell when . she arrived back in Pahiatua. ( Mrs Murch rendered anotaer solo, i after which a most amusing novelty ( competition was held. The highest c

points were gained by Mrs Warren. At the conclusion, the president thanked the hostesses for the afternoon tea served and the meeting closed with the Benediction,
