Manawatu Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Club
, FIELD DAY AND - DEMONSTRATION. L S . Amongst many activities of the t Manawatu Jersey Cattle Breeders' Club, the promotion of field days is one j of the most important. These gather--1 ings not only afford breeders, and farI rners generally, splendid educational opportunities, but they furnish a ready means for the interchange of thought and Viewpoints regarding the many and changing problems that beset the dairyj ing industry. The club has arranged I this year to hold its annual Held day | and demonstration at the property of iMr.H.J. Lancaster, Clen Oroua. The 1 gathering will bo held on Wednesday next, April I, at 12 o’clock noon. The programme will include a demonstration on Jersey cattle by Mr. R. A. Lewis, of Pukokohe. In tho very naturo of things these demonstrations ■ are of much higher educational value than is obtained by watching the judging at tho ringside at the shows, be- ! cause the reasons for preferring one j animal to another are explained, and j those present havo the opportunity of asking for information concerning the points of the cattle under review. J Another feature which will attract | close attention will be an address of 1 genetics in breeding and animal husj bandry, to be given by Dr. E. Marsden, of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Wellington. To young farmers particularly tho forthcoming gathering should make an especial appeal, and it is hoped that j noxt week’s fixture will be rewarded j with a record attendance.
