40-hour Week in New Bill GOVEENMENT CAUCUS DECISIONS Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The provisions of the Reserve Bank Amendment Bill wero discussed at tha Government caucus this afternoon. According to Mr Ravage tho only proposal at present was to take over the £500,001) private capital invested in the bank. There was no suggestion that the directorate should be changed and Mr Savage expressed the hope that the governor would continue to give the Government the benefit of Ins experience and ability. The Bill designed to abolish the New Zealand Railways Board uud return the full control of the railways to the Minister, formed cue topic of discussion at the caucus to-day. Subsequently the Prime Minister said full approval had been given by the caucus to the provisions of the measure. Questioned as to what railway works of developmental character were planned, Mr Savage said the Napicr-Gis* borne railway would definitely go
through. The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Bill was discussed fully at the caucus. In its geuerai policy, said Sir Savage, the Dill restored to workers their right to ventilate their industrial grievances before the Arbitration Conn, no change in the’constitution of which was contemplated. The Government's proposal for the general institution of a forty-hour week would be included in the B'lll.
