A happy afternoon was spent last week, when 25 members of the Alethodist Church Sunday school gathered together at the church. Games and competitions provided the main attractions. Afternoon tea was provided by members of the ladies’ guild and Sunday school teachers. The room was decorated with artificial Iceland poppies (made by All’s Brown) and balloons, assisted to give a very pretty effect. During the afternoon, paper bats were distributed and a scene of gaiety was maintained throughout the day. The jubilee cake was admired by all and every child received a piece. Little Cecil Tunniclift'e, whose fifth birthday coincided with the occasion, shared his birthday cake with the gathering. The handsomely iced cake was decorated with five kewpics. The afternoon’s entertainment concluded with the distribution of toys and photo taking.
