A New World Record

BUTTER-FAT FIGURES OF FRIESIAN COW. CANADIAN PEDIGREE. Now figures for buttor-i'at production have recently been set by Springbank Snow Countess, a pedigree Friesian cow bred and owned by Mr T. R. Dent, Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. I his animal has just completed an R.O.P. record at 15 years of 8821 b fat from 18,9911 b milk, giving her ten consecutive records that total 90621 b fat from 207,0501 b milk. It is claimed that no other cow' in the world of any breed has over produced as much butter-fat in any number of lactations. The figures are as follows:

Total: 10 lactations, 207,0501 b. milk; 9.0(521b fat; test, 4.3 S per cent. Sho made an outstanding record every wear except iu her ninth lactation, when she was handicapped by serious illness after dropping twin calves, but was kept ou test in order to keep her lifetime record unbroken. Although not a champion show cow, Spriugbank Snow Countess is rated excellent in Canadian Advanced Registry, which is the second highest rating. She has, however, several gold medal daughters, which is the highest rating of all. Spriugbank Snow Countess has had five sons and six daughters. Five of the daughters have completed one or more records, and Spriugbank Snow Countess and her five daughters have records averaging 529.31 b fat. Her highest daughter’s record is 9541 b fat. Spriugbank Snow Countess is a daughter of Pioneer Snow Korndykc, a son of Calamity Snow Mcchthildc, 9071 b fat, who is also the dam of Pioneer Snow Ormsby, the bull imported to New Zealand* for the Government herd at Weraroa, and later used by Oakvicw Stud Farms.
