Veterans Will Vie At Bowls To-day

DRAW FOR TOURNEY.

The draw for the Veterans’ Day rinks bowling tournament, to bo held to-day, was made at a meeting of tho executive of the Manawatu Bowling Centre yesterday. Those present were: Messrs. J. A. Nash (chairman), W. Hunter, P. S. Larcomb, A. Cooksley, J. K. Paton and A. F, Wimsett (secretary). Fourteen rinks have entered, as against 12 last year. Four games of eight heads each will be played, and the participants are to be in attendance at the Manawatu Bowling Club’s greens at 10 a.m. The draw is as follows:

First round.—Gilbert (Dannevirke) v. Morshead (Northern), Feilding A v. James (Woodville), Stephenson (Palmerston North) v. Feilding B, Britland (Pahiatua) v. Robinson (Northern), Morgan (Takaro) v. Kershaw (Terrace End), Curry (Woodville) v. Hodder (Northern), Stevens (Dannevirke) v. Manawatu.

Second round.—Curry v. Morshead, Feilding B v. Kershaw, Stephenson v. Gilbert, Hodder v. Feilding A, Manawatu v. Britland, Stevens v. Morgan, James v. Robinson.

Third round.—Kershaw v. Morshead, Curry v. Manawatu, Stephenson v. Stevens, Gilbert v. Feilding B, Hodder v. Morgan, Britland v. James, Robinson v. Feilding A. Fourth round.—James v. Stevens, Gilbert v. Morgan, Hodder v. Stephenson, Feilding B v. Manawatu, Robinson v. Kershaw, Feilding A v. Curry, Britland v. Morshead. Palmerston North Club. A rink from tho Palmerston North Bowling Club travelled to the Levin Bowling Club’s greens on Saturday to challenge for the Manson and JSarr Cup, but it was found, on arrival, that tho green was quite unfit for play owing to heavy Tain. Those who made the journey were:—Procter, Colquhouu, G. G. Wilson, Ramsay (skip). The return visit from the Eketahuna Bowling Club was made to the Palmerston North Club at the week-end and play was enjoyed both in the morning and afternoon. There was no trophy at stake.

VISIT OF WELLINGTON CENTRE TO-MORROW. Word has been received by Mr. J. A. Nash, president of tho Manawatu Centre, that ten rinks representing the Wellington Centre, will visit Palmerston North to-morrow, and play will commence about 1.45 on the Takaro and Northern greens. The following rinks will play for the Manaw-atu Centre:— At Takaro: Terrace End, Manawatu, Takaro, Pahiatua, Oroua. At Northern: Foxton, Palmertson North, Northern, Feilding, Shannon.
