lion. P. Fraser, Minister of Education, announced last evening that he would shortly bo resigning from the Wellington City Council. Palamantairn (Wairarapa), T. .Somerville (Dunedin), J. Stout (Christchurch) and J. P. Thom ’ (Invercargill).

The funeral of ltoy Reed, who died as a result of injuries received when his mount fell in a race at Trcnthum on Tuesday, took place yesterday at Wellington. A striking public tribute was paid deceased, the streets in the vicinity of the mortuary chapel, where a service was held, being crowded with thousands of spectators. Trathc control by city patrolmen was necessury. The cortege was a long one, those attending including the Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. Parry) and a large representation of various sections of the sporting community as well as the general public.
