Lions More Costly
It’s an ill wind—. The price of lions exported from Abyssinia has risen as a result of the Italian invasion. Abyssinia used to export lions on a large scale, but the exports have ceased since the war began,- for Emperor Haile Selassie’s subjects are occupied with other matters. Male liou cubs, formerly £5 each, now bring £2O. Full-grown animals, which used, to cost £SO, now cost twice as much. On the other hand, the application of sanctions against Italy has caused an acute shortage of goldfish in France. France has always imported all her goldfish from Italy. Since the application of sanctions the fish have become hard to buy anywhere in France. 'French fish dealers have tried to. breed their own fish, without much success.
