From Our Own Correspondent, Methodist Jubilee.
There were splendid congregations at the services held in tlie Methodist Church last Sunday, the. occasion being the golden jubilee. Tlie church was filled to capacity, visitors being in attendance from Feilding, Palmerston North, Pahiatua, Pohangina and Utuwai. The preacher, Rev. C. Boston, took for his morning subject, a retrospect text, "Hitherto hath the Lord helped us,” and in the evening the subject was “The best is yet to he” and the text “Glorious things of Thee are spoken.” Special anthems were rendered by the choir, tlie titles being "To Deum Laudamus” and “Kins of Kings.” The bass ■ solo was taken by .Mr E. Tunnicliffo and tlie soprano .by Mrs Brewer. Two quartettes were also' rendered, "The'Old' RuggecJ Cross” sung by Mrs Peck,- Mrs Thomson, Mr Tunnieiiffe and Mr Finlay, tlie second being "Silent Night” sung by Mrs Evans, Mrs Jackson, Mr Tunnicliffo and Mr Finlay. The anniversary will continue this week. On last Tuesday evening a banquet was held in the town hall, p. large gathering being present. Wednesday was children’s day.
