Justices in Conference

PENSIONS, CHILD WELFARE AND MOTORISTS DISCUSSED Par Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Federated Association of Justices discussed a remit that pensions and superannuation should be paid in tho same efficient manner as that use-! by all banks iu New Zealand—by the issue of clicqeus. Mr Donaldson, moving it, said the day was long past when human beings should bo in the embarrassing position of having to stand iu queues like cattle to receive money'. Objection was made by others that there had been cases of imposition which made it necessary that pensioners be seen by' someone in authority. The remit, however, was carried. Child welfare was another subject discussed, and it was agreed that anomalous features of the Act should be ameuded und also that stricter control should be exercised over persons between the age of 17 and 21.

A remit was amended aud carried in the following form: “This conference views with alarm the increased number of cases of intoxicated motorists and suggests that more attention be given to tho question of cancellation of licenses.”
