Wedding at St. Paul's Church

MONTGOMERY—HEMMINGS. St. Paul’s Jlethodist .Church, Palmerston North, was the scene of a quiet but very pretty wedding-recently, when Dulcic Phyllis, third daughter of Mr; and the late Mrs. S. J. Hemmings, oi Umutoi, was married to Robert James, eldest son of Mr...and Mrs. J. T. Mont; gomory, of Eaumai. The ceremony was performed by Rev. ‘R. Patchett, oi Apiti, while Mrs. Patchett presided at the organ. The church was artistically decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride, with hydrangeas in shade, of pink and blue. Escorted by her father, the " bridi made a charming picture in her exqui; ite gown of ivory silk erepo which was made on classical lines, with epaulettes over tight-fitting sleeves, the skirt fallling in soft flares. Her handsome veil of embroidered tulle was arranged well off the face and held in place with a coronet of orange blossoms. A crystal necklet, ivory satin shoes and a beautiful bouquet of white and pale pink gladioli, intermingled with maiden hair fern and tied with ivory satin streamers, were the finishing touches to a very attractive toilette. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Olwyn Hemmings, and Miss Violot Montgomery, sister of the bridegroom. Both maids were dressed alike in frocks of pale green crepo de chine, fashioned on slim-fitting lines,' with green picture hats and shoes'to tone. Bouquets of pale pink begonias, gladioli and maiden hair fern, tied with.pink satin streamers, gave a dainty finish. Mr. J. Montgomery supported his brother as best man and Mr. S. Hemmings acted as groomsman..,. , Following the. ceremony a reception was held at Messrs CollinsonandCunninghame’s rooms where a wealth of flowers and greenery formed an. attractive setting for. the wedding party. The bride's sister, received the guests and,wore a becoming frock of .red and grey floral marocain, red ripple maroeain swagger coat and hat to tone. Her bouquet was. of. red dahlias and gypsophila. She was assisted by the bride-groom-’s mother, 1 -. who wore - a model frock of brown .'floral crepo, brown swagger coat and hat to match and carried : a bouqdet of autumn tinted dahlias and asparagus fern. The happy couple, who were .the recipients of many gifts, including several cheques, left amid showers of confetti and good wishes for the north. The bride travelled., in a smart!- frock of Sajxe blue and white -figured marocain with blue maroeain swagger coat • and accessories to tone.
