Summer Golf at Hokowhitu
GENDINNING CUP WON BY E. R. CHAPMAN SPEECHLEY AND SNELL NEXT IN ORDER The summer competitions, -with, the Glendinning cup for the player getting most points in a series of handicaps, were concluded during the week-end and the cup was won by E. It. Chapman with a winning margin of six points. His aggregate was 14 points and the next in order of merit were L. F. Speechley (9), A. Snell (8), G. M. McCaskill, J. Graham and \Y. J. Knights (each G). The concluding competition was a bogey and before it started no less than 10 players had a chance of winning the cup. The leaders, however, were Snell and Chapman, who were two points ahead of Knights, Speechley, Graham and McCaskill. There was a fairly strong breeze blowing but the greens were not too fast. Playing sound golf after a shaky start, Chapman got back the early deficit and after losing the last hole handed in a card- of 1 down, with which he headed the list. This gave him G points and settled the cup issue. The next best cup cards were those of Speechley and J. F.
