Wind and Rain
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A deepening depression has been crossing the North Island, its centre to-day being located north of the Buy of Plenty. A rather intense anticyclone is advancing over tho Tasman Sea. Winds: Variable at first about Cook Strait and along the east coast; else where southerly, and southerlies soon becoming general; light to moderate, but increasing and reaching gale force at places about and north of Cook Strait. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough on the east coast of tho North Island ana rising thence southwards to Banks Peninsula and also north of Parewcn Spit; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong southerly -winds w'ith moderate Vo rather rough seas. Weather: Cloudy to overcast, with much mist or fog and rain in most dis tricts, and furtfier heavy falls with some flooding likely in tho Bay of Plenty and East Coast districts of tho North Island and in places thunder. Mainly fair, however, on the west coast of the South Island, Temperatures becoming cooler.
