MISS WILLIAMS FAREWELLED.

Them was a large attendance of friends in the St. Peter’s schoolroom on Monday evening to bid farewell to Miss Rita Williams, who is leaving Pahiatua this week to undergo a teachers’ training course at jhe Victoria University College. ,I’he function was organised by St. Peter’s Girls’ Club, for whom Miss Williams had been honorary secretary i'or some years, and members of the Anglican Church choir and other friends also took part. Rev. H, Wilson, vicar, expressed regret at the loss of Miss Williams from tho congregation, and congratulated her on her acceptance by the Department. - t Mr A. W. • Hamilton, choir leader, spoke in eulogistic manner of Miss Williams’ long services in St. Peter’s choir, saying she had bqpn an. example to all, and expressing the hope that her vocal gifts would be at the disposal of some other choir in Wellington.

Miss Ida Ruskell, leader of St. Peter’s Girls’ Club, then called on Miss Williams to accept a handsome leather handbag from club members, choral singers and other friends, and referred to her bright personality and capable secretarial work which had been manifest in the latter's long association with fhe club,

Miss Williams Teplied briefly and expressed regrets at leaving her old friends behind.

Music for the, dancing was supplied by Mrs Graham, Misses L. Whito, Horrax and Jeanette Prussing and Roy Prussing, and during the evening Miss Chatwin contributed vocal items and elocutionary numbers were given by Misses M. Taylor and Pryde. Hiss Joan Stevens also played a violin solo. Messrs Hamilton and Len Barraclough wore the M’s.C. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss J. Pryde and Mr Buckingham.
