Hides and Skins

Messrs Dalgety and- Co. report that the usual sale of sheepskins, hides, tallow and sundries was held before a representative attendance of buyers.

Sheepskins.—There . was ’ an exceptionally keen demand for all- grades and descriptions, exporters- taking the bulk of the catalogues offered. As compared with late rates prices were fully id to id dearer and in . some cases'3d. For an extra special lot of halfbreds and fine crossbreds 12id and 123 d was ’ paid respectively. Salted skins were inquired for, values showing a corresponding, rise. Hides. Excellent competition for all weights, prices advancing on pre vious quotations. Ox ~ heavies sold at 3d to id dearer, mediums 3d, while lightweights were fully, firm. Cow all weights were about 3d dearer, while kip and yearling ruled firm at last sale’s values. Calf sold well at prices id better. Weights of (i/81b. sold up to 131 d, and l/51b. to 133 d. Tallow.—Prices were slightly easier, good mixed selling to 27s per cwt. The following is tho range of prices: Sheepskins: Halfbred to 123 d, line crossbred to 123 d, medium crossbred 83d to lOd, coarse crossbred to 9d, half-wools 03d to Sid, quarter-wools G-}d to 93d; pelts 5d to 73d; salted (at each), pelts 2s to 3s Gd, quarter-wools to 4s 9d, half-wools to 4s, lambs’ to 3s 7d.
