Notes of the Day

It was decided at last evening’s meeting of the Feilding Chamber of Commerce to-approach tho member for the district, Hon. J. G. Cobbe, for a report on what action had been taken by the Public Works Department in connection with the proposed road over tho Buahine ranges from Maharahara to Rauniai. The president (Mr. A. J. Humphreys) recalled that the chamber had taken up the question last year when the then Minister of Public Works had promised a report on the proposal, but nothing forawrd had been heard., Tho chamber should not allow the question to drop and he favoured getting into touch with Mr. Cobbe. The resignation of Mr. C. S. Jeffs as a member was received at last evening’s meeting of the Feilding Chamber of Commerce. In moving,- that the resignation be accepted with regret, Mr. A. J. Humphreys (president) said that Mr. .Jeffs was one of tho most active members of tho chamber and his departure from Feilding was a matter for regret. It was agreed to convey to Mr. Jeffs the’chamber’s eulogy of his services to the town and to congratulate him upon his new appointment.
