Bulls

From Our Own Correspondent. School Committee. The monthly meeting of tho Bulls School Committee was held last Tuesday, Mr S. Rich presiding. There were also present Messrs F. Ralfe, H. Holland, W. Dean, L. Homes, D. O’Connell and the head teacher, Mr W. A. Churchill. The head teacher’s report showed that there had been 21 admissions chiefly of five-year-olds at the beginning of the term, and the roll number now stood at 144. In view of the increase, in numbers. Miss Z. ltalfe bad been appointed as an additional assistant. The southerly storm had blown in one of the windows at the High School and uprooted a shrub, otherwise the school had escaped lightly. Dr Elizabeth Gunn .had spent a day and a half at tho school during the first week, when all tho pupils were examined. Various matters affecting the grounds which the treasurer reported that there and buildings received attention, after which the treasurer reported that there should be a small credit balance at the end of the school year.

Following the meeting, Messrs Read, Sanson and Hart, delegates from the Parewanui School, conferred with members regarding holding a combined picnic. It was resolved to hold a combined picnic for children of the Bulls, Parewanui and Glyneath Schools at the Bulls Domain ground on Friday, February 28, for which a programme of sports and games should be arranged. A sub-committee was then set up to make detailed arrangements, to meet next Tuesday at 8 p.m.
