Washing Pillows

Feather pillows which are in constant use require periodic attention as they pick up a considerable quantity of dust .On a sunny day empty the feathers into a bath of hot, soapy water containing a little borax. .See that every feather is submerged and wash by squeezing handfuls at a time. when all the feathers have been treated in this way remove them from the water with a colander and rinse in cold water. Then drop them into a clean pillow case and put through the wringer. Place the feathers in a warm oven for an hour and after that air in the open. The pillow-tick should be thoroughly washed in hot, soapy water and hung out to dry. Then rub the inside with a piece of soap moistened with warm water to keen the feathers from penetrating
