The necessity for the identification of alleged stolen property led to a most unusual happening at the Auckland Supreme Court, when two heifers were brought to the Court. The case was one in which a farmer was charged with the theft of three heifers, and the vital point in the case against the accused was proof of earmarks and brands on the animals.
