Speedway Thrills To-night
Patrons of to-night’s meeting at the Showgrounds are assured of an exciting display when Putt Mossman’s team of American aces will again give an exhibition of “cinder shifting” that has been unequalled in Palmerston North. In addition to the American star the management has been fortun ate in securing such riders as Stan Greatrex, an English speedway captain of outstanding merit, who has been riding at the other centres with marked success; Dick Lawton, of Wellington, one of our foremost New Zealand riders; and Howard Tolley, well known locally as a rider who showed great promise when riding in Palmerston North three years ago. These riders will greatly add to the interest of the races to-night. With a view to assuring good finishes in all races a new system oJ: grading riders is being adopted, and races are being run with not less than three riders, over four laps, except in three special challenge races. Putt Mossman will again give a spectacular exhibition of stunt riding. With 19 events on tho programme tho evening will be full of thrills from start to finish.
Owing to the damage at the Showgrounds the starting and finishing post will again be in front of the smaller stand, but seating accommodation for 1500 will bo available on the main stand while an unobstructed view ot the racing is to bo seen from around the oval. Cars will be admitted by the gates at the main entrance and can be parked at the rear of the small stand.
