From Our Own Correspondent, Labour Party Branch Meets. The local branch of tho New Lealand Labour f’arty held its monthly meeting last Thursday evening. Afr Ri Signal presided over a good attendance, Tlie chairman reported that Air E. J. Davey had entered the Palmerston North Puolic Hospital. It was decided to write All- Davey a letter expressing tho nope that lie would have a speedy recovery. The secretary tabled a lull report of the lastt meeting ol the L.R.C. Tne question of holding a victory ball is to come up tor consideration at the annual meeting of tho branch to bo held on Pebruary lb. Sanson Scnool Committee.
At the monthly meeting of the Sanson School committee, Air E. J. Bowater presided over the following members: Alessrs D. G. Sanson (secretary), E. Wileock and j. \V. Aioyer. Tile ouannian expressed regret that Committeeman E. j. Davey liad been compelled to enter the Hospital and expressed tlie wisn that lie would make a quick recovery. A communication was received Irom the Wanganui Education Board intimating that live-year-oid childden may be admitted where possible and asking for the co-operation of the committee. It was decidea to advise tlie board that the committee will be pleased to co-operate as suggested. The headteacher, Aliss J. At. l'eattie, in her report stated that the roil liad increased and there was a possibility ot the school being re-graded. The report concluded with tlie teacher’s thanks to the custodian and tlie committee tor the attention that liad been given the school and grounds during the holidays. A tree which was uprooted in the recent gale, is to be cut up tor hrewood. The teachers and children were complimented on the attention they had given the school gardens. Committeeman Wilcock presented a wheelbarrow for the use ot tile school, which will be of great assistance. The question of Uie children wearing a unilorm witli the school’s colours was discussed. No action was taken, but it was suggested that the parents where possible purchase clotnes to match the school colours, blue and while. Personal.
All- E. J. Davey's friends will be pleased to learn that lie is making good progress after an operation. Airs C. Eglintoii is visiting her parents in JlunterviUe.
Mrs T. Raiigdon and her daughter Audrey have returned to Kaetihi after spending a month in the Alanawatu district.
Air Frank Murphy passed through Sanson during the week en route to Waipu kurau.
Tho friends of Air F. W. Tostevin will regret to learn that he is confined to his bed again.
