DOCTORS MUST PROVIDE MANY* DETAILS

LONDON, Dec. 14

A.n “inquisition for lovers” has been published in the German Official Gazette as part of the detailed provisions of .the marriage health laws which were passed in October.

It consists of a reproduction of the forms which must be illled'in on behalof the prospective bride and bridegroom by the doctor who conducts the examination necessary before they are allowed to obtain a permit of “marriage worthiness.” Without this certificate, marriage is not allowed. With it, the couple may marry, provided that the marriage does not contravene the “Aryan protection laws.” Tho main form which the doctor ha 3 to liil in is called an examination sheet. Tt must bear at the left-hand corner two photographs of the bride or br'dgroom, one taken full face, the other in profile. It has also to show the signatures of the parents. After a space for such items as profession, religion of father, mother, and candidate, and all previous meuical attention, the inqib goes on to demand intimate details When did the candidate learn to walk and to speak? Did he or she suffer from any child illnesses? Give details oi spiritual development, school, and professional training, and possible c riminal tendencies. Give details of sexual life. Has he or she any sexual diseases? Does he smoke or drink? Ilaf the candidate any non-German blood? What is the colour of eyes and hair? What is the circumference of head and chest? What is the general bodily condition, with details of bone construction, muscular development, disposition of fat, body construction, poise, and type of race? Finally, a whole page is devoted for details of nose, mouth, glands, lungs, heart and pulse. On the basis of these details, the doctor must certify that h: recommends the candidate to marry or not to marry. Germans who live abroad can obtain such certificates from doctors recommended by the diplomatic representative and approved by the local Nazi political leader. The provisions are signed by Herr Hess, Hitler’s deputy; Dr. Frick, Minister for the Interior, and Dr. Gocrtner, Minister for Justice. An official circular states that exceptions may be made to the Nuremberg laws about marriage of Jews in “quite especial cases.”
