Mrs K. Garland and family are spending a holiday at Eoxton Beach.

Miss E. D. Laing, of Grey street, has returned from Pjctou Sounds, where she has been spending a holiday.

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Coliis, of Kopane, accompanied by Misses M. ana E. Boddy have returned homo after several weeks spent at Plimmerton.

Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins, Bay of Plenty, are spending a few days with Mr. David Bell, “Strathspey,” Ecilding.

Visitors to the National Park during the last week included Miss B. Brownjohn, Mr W. E. Eitzlierbert, and Mr and Mrs Thomas, of Palmerston North.

Miss Bita Christensen and Messrs. P. and C. Christensen have returned to

Wellington after spending a fortnight ’s holiday with their parents, .and Mrs. B, Christensen, Cheltenham.

Tho newly-elected president of the British National Council of Women is Mrs Eva Hartridge, J.P., a graduate of Girton and a former Mayor of Cambridge. She was chosen at the annual conference held at Leicester, in succession to the Dowager Lady Nunburnholme. Mrs Hartridge has interested herself iu women's interests in a number of directions, is a good speaker and a woman who has taken part in political organisations, doing good work. Lady Buth Balfour, M. 8., 8.8., M.8.C.5., who was chosen as acting vice-president; for the National Council of Women for the forthcoming year, lives at Balbirnie, Edinburgh. She is president of tho Elsie Ingiis Hospital in Edinburgh, and takes an active part in all matters .that concern public health,
