Rail Car Transport
MINISTER IMPRESSED WITH POSSIBILITIES. His visit to Palmerston North on Tuesday furnished tho Minister of Railways, Hon. D. G. Sullivan, with his first opportunity of travelling in -the General-Manager’s rail car, and in his brief stay at Levin in the course of his southward journey on Tuesday ho expressed to a reporter his recognition of the great advantages attending this form of travel.
“While I had found Mr. Mackley tremendously enthusiastic, I am now bound to say that I can fully shaTC in his enthusiasm,” remarked Air. Sullivan. “The rail car . holds great advantages not only over the ordinary railway carriage but also over road cars, particularly in the absence of dust and road shocks and in tho greater riding comfort and the excellence of the view obtained, and it is quite within tho domain of possibility that rail cars may prove to bo effective in enabling the railways to hold their own with other competing forms of transport. ’ ’ Air. Sullivan confessed that he w r as thrilled with the experience of such a form of travel by reason of its possibilities, and he could support to the utmost the good opinions already formed.
