Golden Wedding

MR. AND MRS. J. A. McGRATH. Many friends in the Dominion will join,in congratulating Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McGrath, who celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding yesterday. Mr. McGrath was for .43 years a member of tho New Zealand Police Force. Retiring from the service in 1922, he returned to Wellington, where ho had commenced duty in the civil police in .1882, after four years in the armed constabulary. It was in Wellington that Mr. McGrath married Miss Mary Geraldine Browne, of Daylcsford, Victoria.

During his long career Mr. McGrath* made many friends, both in the service and among tho public generally, by his eminent fairness, ability and courtesy. On his retirement he was the recipient of a widespread demonstration of esteem. The friends of Mrs. McGrath are many by reason of her interest in St. Vincent do Paul and other charitable activities in the various centres where she has resided.

The following members of the family united in a celebration of the golden wedding festivities: —Rev. K. I. McGrath, S.M., Mount. Albert, Miss Eveleen McGrath, Devonport, Mrs. Neville McKay, Waipawa, Hawke's Bay, Mrs. L. R. Loftus, Wellington, Mrs. Selwyn Courtney, Wellington, Miss Madeline McGrath, Wellington, and Mr. J. T. McGrath, Hamilton. Fifteen grandchildren participated in tho event.
