Mr R. Moess, who for a number of years has been employed in the local Post Office and has now been transferred to Wellington, was tendered a farewell on Saturday evening-. Mr Moess has always proved himself a most efficient and obliging member of the staff and this was evinced by the large number of residents who gathered to bid him good luck and goodbye. On behalf of the residents, Mr J. Roso presented Mr Moess with a handsome leather suitcase. Mr S. A. Meads, on behalf of the Wairakei Rifle Club, gave a monetary donation, and N.G. Bro. X). Thompson, on behalf of the Oddfellows’ Lodge, presented the guest with, an- electric torch, ' Each of tho speakers eulogised Mr Moess’ work both in the Post Office and lu matters relative to the welfare of the district. Mr Moess returned thanks for the gifts and wishes of good luck and expressed regre at leaving Rangiwahla. The evening’s entertainment took the form of a dance, music being played by the local orchestra, and a very pleasant evening concluded shortly before midnight with the singing of Auld Lang gyne.
