Passenger Version of Comet
CONSTRUCTION IN PROGRESS. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Monday, 1f).50 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 6. The Times’ aeronautical correspondent says that work has begun on a passenger and mail version of the Comet which won the Melbourne Centenary air race. It will have an estimated top speed of 240 miles an hour and a cruising speed of 200 miles an hour. Pour 12cylinder engines of a new Gipsy type, developing 1600 horse-power, will enable a payload of at least U tons. The installation of a variable pitch airscrew will probably increase the payload.
