Masterton Wedding of Interest to City
MARTIN —TANKERSLEY The -wedding of Edna May, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Tankersley, “Rhosmor,” Masterton, and Stanley, eldest sou of Mr. and Mrs. Martin, Queen's Drive, Dunedin, was solemnised at Knox Church, Masterton, recently. The Rev. John Davie performed the ceremony, and Mr. C. W. Kerry presided at the organ. The bride was formerly on the stall of the Russeli street School.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of rippie satin crepe, with full bishop sleeves and a shirred train. The closc-Jitting bodice was cut high at the throat and was finished with a circlet of satin flowers and a plaited satin girdle. Her veil was simply arranged with a circlet of orange bldssom and she carried 3 sheaf of regal lillics. Miss Rita Lancaster, Palmerston North, was chief bridesmaid. Shj wore a model frock of floral angolskin in tones of pale blue and red, with red flowers at the high neckline and a sash of red. Her arm bouquet was of hippeastruiu and shaded red carnations. Barbara Smith,’ a little maid, was attired in a simple floral frock, in tones of blue and pink, with a blue sash and hat. She carried a bouquet of blue-shaded delphiniums. Mr. David Martin, of Dunedin brother of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Empire Hotel, where the bride’s mother, wearing a frock of navy marocain with touches of beige, received the guests. Her hat was of navy straw, and she carried a bouquet of flaiuo-red roses and carnations. The bridegroom’s mother -was attired in an ensemble of black crepe do chino, with touches of black and white. She also wore a black and white hat. Both the bride’s grandmothers wore present. Mrj Christensen, of Wellington, wore * frock of black and silver, with a black swagger coat and a hat of black straw. She carried it posy of soft blue-shaded delphiniums. Mrs. Tankersley, sen., of Masterton, was wearing black marocain, with a laco coatee, and a blaoii. hat with touches of pink. Her pocy was of pink roses.
Later Air. and Mrs. Martin left by car for the north, Mrs. Martin travelling in a navy and white ensemble with a hat of navy taffeta and straw. They will make their new home in Palmerston North.
