Johnsonville Sale

Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on Johnsonville sale held on Wednesday as follows:—Owing to the fact that, a Christmas sale is to be held on Saturday, the attendance of buyers was not up to the usual numbers. Fair yardings of both cattle and sheep were submitted. Prime heavy bullocks met with good competition, but prices were again easier. Plain sorts were unsaleable. There was little demand for cows and heifers of all classes. The yarding of vealers and runners met with the usual good competition and sold at late rates. Prime heavy wethers sold at late rates, but buyers were not interested in plain sheep. A good yarding of ewes came forward and met with brisk competition at prices on a par with last week. A few pens of hoggets came forward, prime sheep sold well, but plainer sorts were again hard to quit. A large yarding of lambs of all grades was offered and prices realised were a little easier than last week.
