Foxton School Closes for Vacation
DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES Yesterday morning the annual break-ing-up and prize-giving ceremony took place at the Foxton District High School in tho presence of a number of parents. The headmaster (Mr. F. A. Mason) reviewed the school work during the past year and referred to the various epidemics which had interfered with regular attendance. He also stressed the necessity for parents to send their children more regularly and stated that in the coming year the provisions of the Act in this connection would be enforced. He also referred to the necessity of post primary pupils of adjacent schools taking advantage of the secondary department and' hoped that provision would be made by the Government to provide free transport in this connection. Mr. Mason thanked the staff for their co-operation and loyalty and wished the children the compliments of tli' - season. Mr. J. K. Hornblow distributed the prizes and the Mayor Mr. M. E. Pcrrcau) also briefly addressed the pupils, after which hearty cheers were given by the children. Father Christmas subsequently made his appearance and distributed gifts, much to the delight of tho pupils.
