From Our Own Correspondent. Obituary. Mr Stanley Sharp, a well known and generally respected resident ol Lulls, passed away at his home in Br.dge street oil Tuesday after being .n injiuereiu health for months. He was about a.nn.Si. to tlie last and new of Ids death came as a shock to his friends. The .a:s Air Sharp it ok an interest m aimost all kinds of sport. He was in the past president oi the Bulls Atiniature Rifle Oluu and past president of the Rangitikei Football Chub and sole selector as well as a delegate to the Rangitikei Rugby Sub-union Ho was also a keen supporter of the Bulls Cricket Club. His aoiiuy with the miniature rifle was well known in the district and ho represented the local club on many of its successful matches. His • passing will bo generally regretted and' the posttioiis lie held in the difliereiit sports bodies will bo hard to fill. Deep sympathy is felt for his widow and family. The interment took place at Clifton cemetery, the followers including members of the Rangitikei Rugby Sub-union, Bulls Football Club, Bulls and Sandon Aiiniature Rifle Clubs, Bulls-Ohakea 'Sports Club, Bulls Cricket Club, Factory Cricket Club and Greatford Railways; as well/as business and country people of Bulls and Sandon. The chief mourners were Ronald and Cliff, sons of deceased. Services were held at the residence and at the graveside, the officiating minister being the vicar of Bulls (Rev. B. li. White). A large number of wreaths were laid on the casket, representing sports bodies from all parts of the district, and business and other friends. Pall-bearers were Alessrs L. and R. Hill. J. Preston, D. A. Lundy, G. Dickson and D. Al. O’Connell. Bowling. Bulls and Palmerston North Clubs met at Bulls last week-end when Bulls defeated the visitors by one point. Following were the scores, Bulls players being mentioned first: Smart, Wilson Walker Stevens (s) 27 defeated Thorburn, Alorgan, Lawson, Brown (s) 2. Ede, Dwyer, Ingram, Drew (s) 12 lost to AleAleekan, Edwards, Alochani, Croucher (s) 29. Bulls 39 points, Palmerston 38. Gift Evening.
A very pleasant evening was spent in the supper rooms of the town hall when Alesdames W. Tarrant and A. McGregor were hostesses at a gift evening in honour of Miss Lurlie Aiitchell, whose marriage to Air Clarrio Culpan, of Palmerston North, takes place shortly. Dancing and music was the order of'the evening, the music being supplied by Alessrs Prentice, Don Alorris, and Wlniata. Tho last named rendered two saxophone and two vocal solos. After Aliss Aiitchell had opened and the guests reviewed the many useful presents. Air Culpan replied on
behalf of Miss Mitchell ami a very happy evening closed with the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
