Motor Driver’s Remarkable Escape

VAN BURSTS INTO FLAMES WHEN BY TRAIN. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. A remarkable escape from serious injury was experienced by a boot retailer, Frederick William Stone, of Mount Eden, when a light van he was driving was struck by a suburban train at the level crossing at Glen Eden. The motor vehicle was spun completely round and carried 30 feet. it burst into ilames but Stone, who was tho solo occupant, escaped with burns to his hands and minor cuts on tile face. When the motor van burst into Ilames tho petrol tank exploded with a report that could be heard some distance away.
