Increasing Activities Of Repertory Society

COMING YEAR. VERY PROMISING. *>

Mr. M. H, Oram presided at the initial meeting of tho new executive of tho Manawatu Repertory Society. A comprehensive programme was planned for the 1936 season, and tho chairman brought forward a " suggested programme, which was adopted with some minor amendments. The society will continue its monthly readings of threeact plays on the first Thursday of each month, commencing on March 5 next, and tho society's two public three-act productions will be presented on April 22, 23, and 24, and on August 12, 13 and 14.

In the past tho society's evening of three produced one-act plays has proved very popular, and during the coming year it is proposed to hold three such evenings in addition to the monthly readings. This will give increased opportunities for members to participate, both as producers and performers, in staged productions as well as in readings and tho innovation should prove a most popular addition to the society's activities.

Bodgers), publicity, (chairman, Mr. K. N. Struthers), programme (chairman, Mr. A. C. Zohrab). These sub-committees aro to meet as soon as possible and report to the full committee not later than the end of January. Tho following officers were elected: Producer, Mr. J. W. Davidson; liaison officer and stage manager, Mr. T. M. N". Bodgers; lighting, Mr. A. C. Zohrab; properties and furnishings, Mr. C. N. Babone; women’s make-up, Miss Gwen Gibbs, Miss U.
