A wireless message received by tho captain of tho Penang Harbour Board from tho captaiu of the steumcr Pasha states that, at 8.20 p.m. yesterday, 'he saw flares on Sayer Island, ou the west coast of Siam, but was unable to reach tho island, owing to a strong off-shore wind.

A Qantas aeroplane is proceeding to Sayer Island to search, as there is a slender chance that it may b’c Kingsford Smith.

The Minister for Defence (Mr. Parkhill) announced that ho had received advice from Air-Commodore Sidney Smith at Singapore that a Qantas mail 'plane had this afternoon searched Sayer Island in the vicinity of the flares seen by the .captain of the steamer Pasha, with negative results. Mr. Parkhill added that the headmen of tho tribes in Malaya had done everything possible to locate the mifising airmen.

The Gannct monoplane, piloted by Mr. Harry Purvis, relure.cd to Sydney to-day. Both Messrs Purvis and Stanuage were greatly fatigued as a result of their long flight from Cloncurry and went to. bed immediately they arrived at Mascot aerodrome.
