For assaulting a girl aged about 111 years on November 17 at Palmerston North, Charles Henry Reid, a factoryhand, .aged 20 years, was yesterday sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour. He appeared before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., and pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court. An application for the suppression of accused name was refused. At the Trinity College examinationsheld a few weeks ago, little Beryl Crystall, of Chelwood street, passed the intermediate examination in elocution with honours (8(1 marks.) Knowing that in all probability she would be at college next year, this energetic little lady who is only 13 years of age, next essayed to pass the'senior examination. This she succeeded in doing at the supplementary examination held this week, with 73 marks to her credit. She is a pupil of Miss Eldrcd. The Railway Department advertises iu this issue particulars of train arrangements and excursion fares iu connection with Feilding races. Attention is drawn to the advertisement of the garden party to be held on election day, Wednesday next, at the residence of Dr. E. 0. Barnett. Special attractions aro provided, including a baby show.
