Farmer and Consumer
“Farmers arc criticised sometimes for caring too much for what may be called show profits,” said Mr. Wilfred Roberts in a recent 8.8. C. broadcast. The shape of a pig’s ears makes no difference to the quality of the bacon. Shows have been blamed for causing too much stress to be laid on fancy points. There is something in this criticism. No, not even the judges. It goes much deeper than that. The producer, the farmer, is not close enough in touch with tlie consumer. Bo many farming problems conic down to that.
