CHELTENHAM. The monthly meeting was held last Wednesday, there being a good attendance. Mrs Mason (Makino) read a letter of great interest from our ovex-seas link in Canada. Mrs Dowrick gave a report on tho half yearly meeting held at Bulls "recently. Mrs Mayhew (Makino) delivered a lecture on her travels in Canada, everybody enjoying it very much.. The drama club gave an excellent reading of a comedy. It was arranged to have the next meeting at Mrs W, Booth’s, members wishing to give toys, etc., for tho Christmas tree being asked to leave them with Mrs P. P. Stevens, auction mart, Feiiding. The hostesses for the afternoon served a delicious afternoon tea. STANWAY. There was a good attendance of members at the November meeting. Mrs J. H. Williamson presided. The plain scone competition resulted: Mrs Roy Shannon 1, Mrs Stokes 2 and Miss Guylee 3. Best article for Christmas stall costing not more than 5s . brought forth a good number of entries and among them were some very clever and useful ideas. Results: Miss Guylee 1, Mrs Peterson 2, Miss Gladstone 3. Mrs Shepherd gave a most interesting demonstration on making articles from tyre tubing, which was followed by Mrs Brooker’s demonstration of making lamp shades. A very simple way of making wool rtfgs was shown by Mrs Williamson and all three demonstrations wero very interesting and wero much appreciated by all. A library of magazines and books was set up and when members hire hooks they givo a small donation, this going for Institute funds. It was decided that it sufficient funds could be raised, a delegate would be sent to Dunedin for tho annual general meeting in July. The December competition will bo for the best Christmas cake not iced. This meeting will take the form of a children’s afternoon when they will be entertained, with games and competitions. A Christmas stall will also be arranged for the children. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs A. E. Pearce, Mrs R. Younger and Mrs John Williamson. TOKOMARU. The November meeting was presided over by Mrs Boote. Before business was commenced members stood in silence ill sympathy with Mrs Blaikio in tho loss of her husband. The points prize • competition for the best article made from papier macho resulted: Mrs Voss 1. Mrs Corlett 2, Mrs Burt 3. It was decided To have a picnic for tho children at Paekakaiiki beach in January instead of a Christmas party. The secretary was instructed to write a letter of sympathy to Mrs Atkinson, who is at present confined to hospital. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent in games and community singing. Miss A. Anderson was the winner of flie travelling parcel. A-dainty afternoon tea was served by hostesses, Mrs McGill and Miss D. Towler. Members wero reminded of the competition for December, which will bo for the six best assorted cakes. __
