United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Tuesday, 9.0 p.m. SANTIAGO (Cuba), Oct. 21.
High winds and pounding rains, the forerunners of a tropical' hurricane on Monday night' isolated Santiago from most points east and north in the Oriento province. Jamaica’s banana planters estimate their losses at 2,500,000 dollars after the second destructive hurricane within a month. Estates missed by tho September storm were stripped of fruit-laden trees to-day, and planters added a million dollars to the loss previously estimated. It is thought the two disasters destroyed 70 per cent, of tho entire crop. An 11-year-oid boy was drowned in tho Carribean sea hurricane which passed slightly east of Jamaica and whirled towards Cuba, causing heavy gales over a wido area.
