Tennis Season at Palmerston North Club
There wa3 a large gathering of members and friends at the opening of the
Palmerston North (Linton street) Ten* nis Club. The playing surfaces were in excellent condition and reflect the
greatest credit on the greens superintendent (Mr. A. E. Blackbourn) and the groundsman.
During tho afternoon tea adjournment tho club president, Mr. Lindsay Gardner, made reference to the coming season, expressing the wish that it would prove an enjoyable one for ail. Although the club had much to congratulate itself upon, there still remained a good deal to be done in the way of improving the general facilities and maintaining tho full interest of members throughout the year. Mr. Gardner stated that an energetic committee had various proposals under consideration and they hoped, with the full co-opera-tion of members, to bo able to take progressive steps in the near future. The spacious and well-appointed grounds were filled throughout the afternoon with players anxious to make an early effort to strike form, the effect being a pleasant and animated one.
