Fine Y.M.C.A. Display Will Conclude To-night

xtEFRESHINGLY NEW AND CLEVER

For a number ol! years now the local' branch of tho Y.M.C.A. has been presenting annually a gymnastic carnival of outstanding merit, an entertainment that lias justly earned tho reputation of tho flnest event of its kind iu the Dominion. It is a pageant of youth and health, magnificently staged and refreshingly new at each succeed ing year’s presentation. This evening, when a very successful threo nights’ season will conclude, the 1935 programmo of grace, rhythm, and agility will' again bo staged, and it is confidently anticipated that the record crowd of Saturday last will again be seen at tho Opera House. It may be pointed out that, apart from tho general display of gymnastic skill, tho admirably arranged programme includes bright musical numbers, dancing, interludes of humour and fine soi'o and concerted work. Tho frocking is also a most pleasing feature.

The carnival demonstrates the organisation of ’ the Y.M.C.A. and reflects credit not only on the 250 members taking part, but is a tribute also to Mr C. C. Woods, the physical director, and' Mr L. Gittings, tho boys’ work director. Tho object of tho branch in developing the ideal citizen cannot be overestimated, and those who attend the display will away satisfied with the entertainment and content that all possible is being accomplished to foster an admirablo physical, mental and moral ideal.

The popularity of the Y.M.C.A. gymnastic carnival may certainly be interpreted as an expression of the high esteem in which the association is held and tho merit of tho flxturo from an entertainment point of view, .To-night

is the last night, and intending patrons should make a point of being seated early as an excellent attendance is assured.
