CARNARVON

A well attended meeting was held in the hall on Tuesday last, Mrs Will presiding. A weleomo was extended to Miss Keith (a visitor) and Mrs N. Scott and Miss 1). Burnt) (now members). Sympathy was expressed with the Oroua Downs W. I. in the loss of Mrs Hunter, a valued and higlily esteemed vice-president. It was decided to enter in the potato growing competition again this year, Mrs Will kindly donating tho seed. Pinal arrangements for tho Institute flower show to be held next month were made. Mesdames P. Scott and J. Gibbons were appointed secretary and treasurer respectively and an afternoon tea committee was elected as follow: —Mesdiimcs Bose, Ingram, K. Scott, McKenzie, E. and W. Pedley and Misses B. Beove, A. Goldfinch and B. Connolly. The competition for the sponge roll resulted: Mrs E. Ingram 1; Miss W. Claro 2; Mrs Will 3. All interesting demonstration on seagrass stools was given by Mrs Bibbons, who was accorded a vote of. thanks. Afternoon tea was served by tho hostesses, Mesdames Goldfinch, P. Scott, W. Pedley and Miss B. Eceve. TAIKOREA. At tho October meeting Mrs Castle (vice-president) presided over a large attendance. Two delegates, Mrs Hill and Miss Bailey, were appointed to attend the half-yearly council meeting at Bulls. Two new members, Miss Ida Cornwall and Miss Bac Hill, were enrolled. The afternoon, which was in tho hands of the married ladies, was happily spent in games, items and two competitions. The competition for a musical parcel resulted: —Mrs Hchir 1, ilrs Castle 2, Mrs Lyons 3. A competition arranged by Mrs Johnston was won by Miss Smith, while a box of chocolates provided by Mrs Lyons was won by Miss B. Hill, Afternoon tea was served by tho married ladies, after which tho president (Miss Smith) thanked them for the very pleasant afternoon.
